VALUE PAWN & JEWELRY CEO SPEAKS AT 2007 VERTICAL COMPUTER SYSTEMS SYMPOSIUM
Orlando, Fla. --John Thedford -- founder, president and CEO of Value Pawn & Jewelry (Value) -- recently spoke at the 2007 Vertical Computer Systems, Inc. Symposium in Miami Beach. The annual symposium brings together top executives in the pawn industry and includes CompuPawn Software training, as well as round tables and other presentations.
Thedford's main presentation, titled "The Value of Human Capital -- How My People Helped Me Build An Empire," stressed the importance of selecting the right employees for a company and compensating them accordingly. He also spoke at the closing of the symposium, speaking about his challenges and successes in businesses.
Thedford founded Value Financial Services -- which operates the Value Pawn & Jewelry and Check Jewelry and Loan chains -- in 1994 with one store in Orlando, Fla. Since that time, the company has grown to 62 locations in Florida, Georgia and Tennessee. In 2006, Value generated $88 million in revenue and is on track to finish 2007 at more than $100 million.
Value has been named to the Orlando Business Journal's "Best Places to Work" and "Golden 100" lists, and Thedford was recently selected as the publication's April 2007 Entrepreneur of the Month.
